Complexity: Easy

1.SET UP YOUR TANK
1a. Attach the aquarium air
diffuser to the air pump using
the air line tubing, cutting the
tubing just long enough to let
the diffuser lie in the bottom
of the tank. If your diffuser
has an anti-siphon valve,
install that as well following
the included instructions.

CAUTION:
Never plug in the heater
unless it’s fully immersed,
and always unplug it
before emptying the tank.
Otherwise it may overheat
and break.
1b. Bend the air diffuser to
route it around the inside
edges of the tank. This will
help keep the walls clean and
also let you see the rising
bubbles, for a “mad scientist”
effect.
Place the heater in the
tank, but don’t plug it in yet.
You’ll be starting with the
tank only about one-quarter
full, so position the heater
down toward the bottom.
Place the tank in the
sunniest window in your
house and make sure it’s
easily accessible so you can
add the nutrient solution.

2.MIX THE GROWTH SOLUTION
2a. In a large bucket, make
10 liters of nutrient solution by
mixing 10 liters of fresh water
with 1 cup of Starter Mix. 2a
