"ShopBot's open archite cture and well
documented simple command language,
made adding ShopBot capability to my
mosaic software surprisingly easy."
From Airplanes to Artwork...
California Engineer-Turned Artist Ari Krupnik makes mosaics out of found objects. Over the years
he's used dice, matches, color pencils, even spent bullet casings as physical pixels. He used custom
made design software and laboriously assembled his images by hand, one pixel at a time. Then in
2007 Ari saw a ShopBot. "At the time I was using the ShopBot to cut parts for a home built
airplane." But as he gained experience with ShopBot, Ari recognized its artistic potential.
With the newfound machining capability that a ShopBot CNC tool gives him, Ari has been able to
tackle larger projects than he ever thought practical, like the eight foot tall rendering of
New York's iconic Flat Iron building made by drilling 60,000 holes.
Ari is an Engineer, Pilot, Artist, and a ShopBotter
