Fig. D: Drill the thigh for one of its spring joints.

Fig. E: Steps for constructing wire spring joints.

Fig. F: Body and leg with 2 completed joints.

2. For the eyes, glue the 2 spinners to the sliding tray, on the side opposite the spindle hole, which looks like a mouth (Figure B).

3. Clamp and let dry, then drill a vertical hole through the chin. The head is now complete.

4. On the body, drill holes centered at the top and bottom (Figure C) for the neck and back strings, and pairs of holes on the sides and along the bottom for the arms and legs.

5. Drill holes in the ends of all 4 arm pieces and the 2 leg pieces for the thighs (Figure D). For the other 2 leg pieces, the shins, drill only 1 end.

6. Make 8 small arm/leg springs by wrapping the wire around a nail 20 times and 1 large neck spring by wrapping the wire around a pencil 25 times.

7. To make the arm and leg joints, twist-tie wire pieces through 1 side, slide a spring over the wire, then twist-tie the other side and trim any extra wire (Figures E and F). The connections need to be loose enough to let the limbs move freely. Attach the neck in the same way, using the larger spring (Figure G).
