1d. Fill bucket with dry concrete mix
to ½" below the line — about ¼ of a
50 lb. bag. That red detergent bottle
is filled with 1½ quarts of water with
the dye added. Add half the water,
mix, add a little more water, mix,
and keep adding water until all the
concrete is wet like thick oatmeal. If
water is sitting on top and won’t mix
in, you added too much water. Just
sprinkle in a little more concrete.
1e. Remove the bowling ball from the
plastic mold, then scoop concrete
into the mold. You can dump any
leftover concrete into a cardboard
box lined with a plastic bag, just like
the professionals. Or you can leave it
in the bucket to solidify like the lazy
people! In either case, throw hardened
concrete away rather than trying to
flush it down the toilet.
1f. Once the concrete is in the play
ball mold, press the bowling ball in
to create the center depression. Not
going very well? Too wet? Take out
the ball, add a little more concrete,
mix, drop the bowling ball back in and
allow to dry according to instructions
on the concrete bag.
NOTE: I added about ¼
of a bottle of charcoal dye
to the water, but I should
have added ½ a bottle, as
I would have preferred the
concrete to be darker.
