There are lots of things to love about sewing: the pleasure of choosing just the right fabric for just the right pattern, the feel of sharp scissors carving out the pattern pieces, the hiss of the hot iron pressing a perfect seam … but there are not-so-lovable parts, too. One of my least favorite parts of sewing is hemming, and I’m always looking for ways to make it easier or faster, or, if I’m lucky, to escape it entirely. One sure way to avoid hemming is to work with fabric that has been helpfully pre-hemmed by someone else — like a tablecloth.
