HIDE IT: SNEAKY POCKETS HIDE IT
Soft electronics? The phrase seems quite contradictory. Electronics are a combination of hard plastic and metal, anything but soft and cuddly. However, after stumbling across some conductive thread on the internet, I was inspired to attempt my own soft electronics. Apparently conductive thread is used to repair electric lamés worn by fencers, but it can also be used for some creative circuitry.
The teddy bear remote was the first project I made with my coveted spool of conductive thread, and it’s an adorable way to control an iPod or computer. The bear is a modification to a standard radio frequency (RF) remote control and is surprisingly soft. If you’re daring enough to sew and solder, the teddy bear remote is functional, cuddly, and fun to make.
