Duck tape fascinates me. The sticky, tough, permanent tape is great, and crafting with it is even better. Before the “stuff that holds the world together” was invented, tape was not permanent. Tape was clear, breakable, and temporary. But in 1942, Johnson and Johnson invented a permanent tape that actually stuck! The world rejoiced. Since then, duck tape has been used on army Jeeps, guns, spacecraft, and the humble home air conditioning duct. Many have used it creatively as a material to make things like prom dresses, ties, wallets, and bracelets.

The idea of a duck tape iPod case started in the back seat of a
long car ride to San Antonio. I had my iPod and a roll of gray duck
tape (originally and often still referred to as “duck,” not “duct”). So
I put 2 and 2 together, and the duck tape iPod case was born.
