As a child, one day I realized that I could wrap with any kind of paper, and I was thus liberated into wrap art. It was collage in the service of transient delight, with no greater agenda than to make random materials dance and sing briefly before the eyes and eager hands of a gift’s recipient. All of these wraps rely on recycled and repurposed materials, such as shopping bags, office supplies, and crafting scraps, along with a heightened sense of play.
I started with a Chinese newspaper I picked up while getting takeout the night before. Then I added a band of image paper from a software flyer and made a ribbon of folded gold-foil paper.
This was a baby present, so I added 2 items that might persist in his room: a toy dinosaur and a personalized twig. I glued them on lightly, with a red square placed diamond-wise to feature t «he green dinosaur.
