Christine Haynes and Kent Bell (Party Dress) are creative, independent, active, hard-working, fun-loving, 30-something artists. For giggles, Kent spends time surfing, skateboarding, and drinking beer on the beach with friends, while Christine rides her bike, learns to knit, and plays with their cool cats, Sally, Pinta, and Lloyd, in their vintage Venice Beach, Calif., bungalow. A modern renaissance woman, Ulla-Maaria Mutanen (Linkages) writes, develops, crafts, and researches. When she’s not hard at work, she enjoys reading, dancing Tango Argentino, and going to flea markets. Ulla lives in the center of Helsinki, Finland, with her spouse and new baby boy. Stephanie Scheetz (Paper Bead Bangle and Bagalope) was born and raised in Northern California. Her passion for crafting is matched only by her devotion to her four cats and her longhaired Chihuahua, Mocha. She has been a craft designer and instructor for major rubber stamp companies for 15 years. Her work has appeared in numerous craft industry and consumer magazines, in addition to catalogs, advertisements, and how-to books. A diehard New Yorker, illustrator Melinda Beck (Modern Crafting and Susie’s Home Ec) grew up in Manhattan, married a man from Queens, and lives in Brooklyn. She loves to sew clothes for her two girls, and often takes field trips with them to Mood Fabrics in the garment district. Taking time off work excites Melinda, almost as much as working on Christmas projects in 102° weather. She adores dark chocolate, and her weapon of choice is the kneaded eraser.

Matt Hawkins (Jumping Paper Frog) is a constant doodler. When he’s not cutting, folding, or gluing, he can be found making indie comics, playing the banjo in a bluegrass band, or watching old cartoons. Matt lives in Kansas City, Mo., with his wife, Alicia, their two kiddos, Lily and Henry, and their furry friend Maggie. He’s currently putting together a book of 25 paper toy designers from around the world. His niece Meadow recently summed up the biggest problem with paper toys: “This toy does not stay together good if you try and sleep with it.”

Garry McLeod’s ( Wrap Art and cover photography) love of photography was born in the drained concrete pools of California backyards, capturing his skateboarding friends with his father’s camera. He turned the family’s bathroom into a darkroom, and when graduation came, he headed off to photography school in Seattle. In 1995 he moved to New York. Garry has recently returned to his Cali roots, moving back with his wife (also his high school sweetheart), Terri, two children, Lucretia and Gannon, and cat, Milo. Presently, Garry divides his time between New York and San Francisco.

Megan Mansell Williams (Rock Paper Scissors) is a former marine biologist who writes about science and culture from her home in San Francisco. An assistant editor for the UC Berkeley College of Engineering alumni magazine, Forefront, her freelance work appears in Discover, Inkling, MAKE, CRAF T, and Via, among other publications.
