1. Dress Up While not exactly play clothes, Jennifer Collier’s artwork is a great reminder of the way clothes get loaded down with meaning. Her paper garments (made from old letters, vintage maps, and even dress patterns themselves) are a nod to classic little-girl dresses of years past and the dainty shoes are as delicate as Cinderella’s. jennifercollier.co.uk

2. Sew Real
The felted creations
of Blythe Church
always require a
second look: is that
sewing machine/
camera/typewriter/
whatever else she’s
working on really
made from fabric?
The intricacy (the
sewing machine is
threaded with real
thread) and sense
of humor (she even
loaded film into
the back of her felt
Olympus SLR) are an
inspiration, no matter
what you craft.
