If the sight of your own blood makes you nauseous, your friends and family fear for their lives when you pick up a sharp object, or you’re a hand model for soap ads, this project may not be the right craft for you. On the other hand, if you enjoy a challenge, want to try something new, and are good with Band-Aids, this might be the answer to your next obsession.

I became hooked on woodcarving when I was just a kid. I loved watching my Dad carve faces out of wood from the camphor tree in my Grandma’s backyard, and longed to have his skills. At the end of his life, woodcarving was his meditation and his hope for a future during his bout with a terminal disease. Any talent I may have as a woodcarver, I owe to him. This project is dedicated to his memory.
