Hand-Carved Crochet Hook
Turn deadwood into a beautiful object you’ll
have forever. BY JIM PRICE
My dream in life since my dad died in 1953 was to
own our old property on Deadman Creek (we say
“crick”) in Eastern Washington. Happily, in October
of 2000 we were able to buy back 30 acres of the place. Now I’m
doing what I can to build a cabin to replace our house, which is no
longer there. One thing I’m doing to raise funds for the building
project is hand-carving wooden crochet hooks out of branch wood
I collect from the ranch.
Got a sharp pocketknife? A stick? A little saw and sandpaper?
That’s about all you need to make a crochet hook with the feel and
warmth that you just can’t buy at Wally World. So let’s make one.
